Project funded by Fundação para a Ciência e a Tecnologia, I.P. (FCT) (FCT_CPCA_2024_01), grant 2024.08665.CPCA.A1. Funded amount: EUR 1,237.62, as stated by the source. Runs 2025-01-01 to 2026-01-01. Keywords: Monitored Quantum Systems, Quantum Transport, Large Deviations, Meaurement-induced transitions, Exact sciences, Exact sciences/Physical sciences. Source: OpenAIRE Graph, from the funder's project data (collected by OpenAIRE on 2025-07-20); national funding data, not CORDIS; selected because its keywords name quantum. Abstract given by the source: Measurement-induced phase transitions are a recent stunning example of how acquiring information about a quantum system fundamentally affects its dynamics. However, current proposals to detect this phenomenon are hardly implementable, and it is unclear how robust this effect is to environmentally induced processes. To address these topical issues, we propose to use quantum transport observables and the statistical properties of the measurement outcomes to characterize the different dissipative nonequilibrium phases and their transitions. Consequently, in our approach, we resort to the Large Deviation (LD) formalism as it provides a systematic and straightforward way to compute these transport quantities. Our technique requires evolving large matrices for very long periods of time. However, we may run many parallel trajectories which allow for massive parallelization. Therefore, our project requires a cluster with fast and numerous processing units. Besides impacting the relatively new field of measurement-induced transitions, our results will be of interest to the fields of quantum control, quantum information, and quantum computation, where frequent measurements are crucial for quantum error correction.
