What Quantum Europe is
Quantum Europe is a public quantum intelligence observatory. It brings together EU-funded quantum projects, organisations, infrastructure, funding opportunities, jobs, events, documents and policy from public sources, and every record links to its source. It is a prototype, not an official EU service.
Key figures
| Figure | Value |
|---|---|
| EU-funded quantum projects in CORDIS (Horizon 2020 + Horizon Europe) | 1,256 |
| Organisations taking part in these projects | 1,405 |
| Maximum EU grant agreed for these projects | EUR 2.66 bn |
| Countries with participating organisations | 48 |
Horizon 2020 and Horizon Europe projects in CORDIS only. Not included: national programmes, the Digital Europe Programme, the EuroHPC Joint Undertaking and the Chips Joint Undertaking, which fund much of the quantum infrastructure in Europe.
Catalogue coverage
| Figure | Count | As of |
|---|---|---|
| Project records from all sources (EU, national and regional funders) | 8,847 | 2026-11-03 |
| Organisation pages | 1,434 | 2026-11-03 |
| Documents in the library | 63 | 2026-11-03 |
| Countries with at least one catalogue record | 48 | 2026-11-03 |
| Published catalogue records in all | 10,539 | 2026-11-03 |
These count records in the portal’s catalogue, including national and regional projects; they measure its coverage, not the size of the European quantum sector. Records about several countries count in each.
How to cite the portal
Quantum Europe portal, "Quantum Europe: Public Quantum Intelligence Observatory", https://quantumeurope.diezao.org/quantum-europe/ (accessed 3 November 2026).
For a single figure or record, cite the page it is on with its address and the date you read it, and name the original source the record shows.
Data licences and attribution
- Every record names its source, and reuse of the data follows that source’s licence: for example CORDIS data under the European Commission’s reuse policy (Decision 2011/833/EU), the OpenAIRE Graph under CC BY 4.0 and Wikidata under CC0 1.0.
- The portal’s own texts and compilations are available under the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International licence (CC BY 4.0): reuse them with attribution to Quantum Europe and a link to the page. Third-party data keeps its source licence.
