We want everyone, including people with disabilities, to be able to use the Quantum Europe portal.
Last updated .
Standard
The portal is built to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 at level AA, the level of the European standard EN 301 549 that the European Accessibility Act (Directive (EU) 2019/882) refers to. Our engineering target is WCAG 2.2 AA, which includes the 2.1 criteria.
Conformance status
Not yet fully audited. No complete audit with assistive technologies has been carried out, so we do not claim full conformance. This statement is based on our own assessment.
- Every page shares the same rules: one main heading, a link to skip to the content, page landmarks and a clearly visible keyboard focus.
- On 26 October 2026 the pages added from 24 to 26 October were checked in their code: headings, tables, forms, focus, colour contrast, link text, reflow at 320 pixels, target size, charts and motion. The problems found, such as tables without captions and focus outlines with too little contrast, were fixed.
- Automated checks with axe-core, and a check that pages do not scroll sideways at 320 pixels, are part of our test journeys.
- Every chart has a text title and description and a table with its data.
Known limitations
- The pages have not been tested with a screen reader. Items still to check include questions that are hidden while you answer the instrument navigator, the zero values in the preprint heat table, the Member State progress and export-control matrices, the read-only feed address on the calendar feeds page, error messages on the suggestion form, and the order in which charts' descriptions are read.
- Titles, summaries and documents from other sources are shown as their publishers wrote them. Some are not in plain language, some are in other languages, and linked PDF documents may not be accessible.
- Pages built before 24 October 2026 have not yet had the same code check.
Feedback and contact
If you cannot use a page or a feature, tell us which page and what went wrong, and we will try to give you the information another way. The portal has no public mailbox yet. Until one is published here, use the suggestion form (no account needed) or, if you have an account, the feedback form; both are explained under Contact on the About page.
Owner-reviewed for demonstration, 28 October 2026. Not stated yet on this demonstration site: a dedicated accessibility contact and the time within which we reply.
Enforcement
Owner-reviewed for demonstration, 28 October 2026. Not stated yet on this demonstration site: the national body you can turn to if our answer does not satisfy you, and which accessibility law applies to this portal.
Technical information
The portal is built with Drupal and its own public theme. It relies on HTML, CSS, WAI-ARIA and, for some interactive features, JavaScript; forms and filters also work without JavaScript.
