Project funded by Novo Nordisk Foundation (Investigators), grant NNF23OC0082957. Participating organisations named by the source: DTU Technical University of Denmark. Runs n/a to 2030-10-31. Keywords: Methods, Nanotechnology, Photonics, Physics, Quantum Technologies. Source: OpenAIRE Graph, from the funder's project data (collected by OpenAIRE on 2025-08-01); national funding data, not CORDIS. Abstract given by the source: Decoherence is a fascinating phenomenon leading a system holding quantum information, a qubit, to turn into a classical system. However, decoherence is a major challenge for quantum computers since they rely on quantum mechanics to perform powerful calculations going beyond the capabilities of classical computers. In QuDec, we will investigate in detail decoherence in quantum emitters (QE), systems able to send single quanta of light. QEs are building blocks for technologies using light as qubits. However, QEs are strongly influenced by the vibrations of the atomic lattice surrounding it which destroys the quantum properties of the light emitted. We will measure the effects of vibrations on QEs with a new experimental method allowing us to control the quantum properties of individual vibrations for the first time. We will investigate how quantum vibrations can be used to slow down decoherence in QEs, thereby potentially giving more time to perform quantum computation tasks._x000D_
