Project funded by Research Council of Finland, grant 375585. Participating organisations named by the source: Aalto University. Funded amount: EUR 699,271, as stated by the source. Runs 2026-09-01 to 2030-08-31. Keywords: Physical sciences. Source: OpenAIRE Graph, from the funder's project data (collected by OpenAIRE on 2026-07-06); national funding data, not CORDIS. Abstract given by the source: Quantum simulators mimic the behavior of quantum materials and processes, enabling more accurate modeling of complex quantum systems. Here, I will create a universal many-body quantum simulator based on quantum dots to more accurately model and understand exotic quantum materials. I will realize the universal simulator by employing a methodology that enables the precise positioning of single atoms in quantum dots on semiconducting surfaces using a scanning tunneling microscope. The universal simulator will then allow me to tune fundamental parameters such as electron interactions and lattice geometry, which are crucial for exploring correlated topological systems. This project will deepen our understanding of such systems and further strengthen the growing national capabilities in quantum technologies. The research will be carried out at Aalto University.
