Outside the quantum-technology scope of this portal (quantum-dot materials for light, energy or biology): the title names quantum science but no quantum technology. The record is kept for reference and left out of the default projects listing and counts.
Project funded by Swedish Research Council (Project grant), grant 2014-04284_VR. Participating organisations named by the source: University of Gothenburg. Funded amount: SEK 750,000, as stated by the source. Runs 2015-01-01 to 2017-12-31. Keywords: Naturvetenskap, Natural Sciences, Fysik, Physical Sciences, Den kondenserade materiens fysik, Condensed Matter Physics. Source: OpenAIRE Graph, from the funder's project data (collected by OpenAIRE on 2025-12-05); national funding data, not CORDIS. Abstract given by the source: This project deals with development of dye/quantum dots and perovskite sensitized solar cells as an alternative green energy source for the production of electricity. The main target is to synthesize novel materials for enhancement of power conversion efficiency of the solar cells. Apart from using synthetic dyes as sensitizers, effort will be made on developing new solid state sensitizers using organometallic perovskites to improve the efficiency and durability of the cells. For further improving the performance of the cells, special attention will be focused on using polymer nanofibres as electrolytes and TiO2 nanofibres/nanotubes as photoanodes. This proposal consists of two major work packages. Under work package 1, the development of perovskite based and quantum dot based solar cells will be undertaken in order to achieve low cost and high efficiency solar cells. Under work package 2, low cost and high efficiency dye sensitized solar cells will be developed by fabricating cells with polymer nanofibre gel electrolytes as well as TiO2 nanofibre/nanorod photoanodes. The overall aim of the project is to develop the next generation of high efficiency and low cost solar cells which would operate even under low light situations. This project will be done in collaboration with University of Malaya, Malaysia, the Institute of Fundamental Studies, Sri Lanka and Rajarata University of Sri Lanka.
