Project funded by Swedish Research Council (Project grant), grant 2011-07689_VR. Participating organisations named by the source: Lund University. Funded amount: SEK 100,000, as stated by the source. Runs 2012-01-01 to 2012-12-31. Keywords: Naturvetenskap, Natural Sciences, Kemi, Chemical Sciences, Fysikalisk kemi, Physical Chemistry. Abstract given by the source: Ab initio quantum chemistry has made so many advances in the last 40 years that it now allows the study of molecular systems containing any of the atoms in the periodic table, including heavy elements. A good description of molecular systems heavily depends on the ability of a method to correctly describe electron correlation and relativistic effects. Electron correlation effects are essential for the accurate description of the electronic structure of molecules and chemical reaction. The conference is dedicated to the research and development of electronic structure theory for strongly correlated systems. The conference is organised in celebration of Per-Åke Malmqvist´s 60th birthday. Per-Åke Malmqvist is one of the major developers of multiconfigurational quantum chemical methods, in particular the Complete Active Space SCF method, CASSCF, followed by second order perturbation theory, the CASPT2 method.
