Outside the quantum-technology scope of this portal (gravity, black holes, cosmology and string theory): the title names quantum science but no quantum technology. The record is kept for reference and left out of the default projects listing and counts.
Project funded by Fundação para a Ciência e a Tecnologia, I.P. (FCT) (6817 - DCRRNI ID; Investigador FCT), grant IF/01736/2014/CP1218/CT0002. Funded amount: EUR 356,489, as stated by the source. Runs 2015-02-01 to 2020-01-31. Keywords: N/A. Source: OpenAIRE Graph, from the funder's project data (collected by OpenAIRE on 2025-07-18); national funding data, not CORDIS. Abstract given by the source: David Yates conducted his undergraduate studies at the University of Liverpool, where he obtained first class marks in 14/16 courses, and was the first student to be awarded first-class honours in philosophy in 6 years. He wrote his thesis on psychological externalism, which was awarded a first-class mark. David then moved to King’s College London to read for his MPhil after receiving a British Academy studentship. He passed with distinction, receiving first-class marks in all three modules (Philosophy of Mind, Philosophy of Donald Davidson, and Philosophy of Psychology), with the highest mark in the University of London for Philosophy of Psychology. After taking a break from his philosophy career to work as an information technology lecturer, David received an AHRC PhD studentship in 2002, and returned to King’s to read for his PhD. His thesis passed without corrections on February 28th 2006, with a committee of Prof Tim Crane and Prof E. J. Lowe. David spent the next two years holding a range of teaching positions at the University of Sheffield and King’s College London, before receiving a prestigious British Academy Postdoctoral Fellowship in 2008 to study the relationship between neuroscience and the causal completeness of physics. As principal investigator, David collaborated with neuroscientists at London’s Gatsby Institute. After this fellowship David took up a full-time temporary lectureship in philosophy of mind and metaphysics at King’s College London, and then moved to the university of Oxford as a postdoctoral fellow on Anna Marmodoro’s Power Structuralism Project, where he remains to the present day. David specialises in metaphysics and philosophy of mind, and places great emphasis on the philosophical significance of science to his work, in particular neuroscience and physics. David is sole author of 11 articles and co-editor (with Anna Marmodoro) of a forthcoming book with Oxford University Press. Of the 11 articles, three are book chapters, two of [shortened; the full text is on the OpenAIRE page]
