Project funded by Swedish Research Council (Project grant), grant 2017-04855_VR. Participating organisations named by the source: Stockholm University. Funded amount: SEK 2,900,000, as stated by the source. Runs 2018-01-01 to 2021-12-31. Keywords: Naturvetenskap, Natural Sciences, Fysik, Physical Sciences, Atom- och molekylfysik och optik, Atom and Molecular Physics and Optics. Source: OpenAIRE Graph, from the funder's project data (collected by OpenAIRE on 2025-12-04); national funding data, not CORDIS. Abstract given by the source: The interdisciplinary field of quantum information processing and communication is a new and rapidly developing part of ICT. It connects classical information theory with advances in quantum technology to achieve tasks in information and communication that are impossible with classical methods. The ultimate goal of this project is the development of novel engineered complex quantum systems and their use for quantum information science and technology. To achieve the goal of the project significant experimental research work will have to be developed: Engineering of quantum photonic multipartite entanglement and integrated quantum photonics. Each of these quantum components and will also be highly useful in its own right, in for tasks as diverse as: Investigations on entanglement propagation properties and non-additivity of quantum channel capacities; ; certification of quantum resources; Long distance free space quantum communication; Investigations on non-trivial topological effects in photonic crystals. To accomplish these tasks a unique multi-disciplinary approach based on a range of different research areas in quantum physics and photonics. The effort proposed will also be organized to produce a highly fertile and effective research at the physics department, Stockholm University. The project is well timed with newly ten years quantum technologies flagship EU initiative.
