Project funded by Swedish Research Council (Project grant), grant 2013-05281_VR. Participating organisations named by the source: Chalmers University of Technology. Funded amount: SEK 4,200,000, as stated by the source. Runs 2014-01-01 to 2017-12-31. Keywords: Naturvetenskap, Natural Sciences, Fysik, Physical Sciences, Atom- och molekylfysik och optik, Atom and Molecular Physics and Optics. Source: OpenAIRE Graph, from the funder's project data (collected by OpenAIRE on 2025-12-05); national funding data, not CORDIS. Abstract given by the source: This proposal concerns advanced basic and applied aspects of quantum information technology, at the interface between quantum physics, computer science, and electronics. Nanoscale superconducting heterostructures present a testing ground for fundamental quantum physics and provide a number of applications to quantum effect devices, in particular Josephson junction circuits for qubits and quantum computing. The project concerns in particular theoretical work on: 1. Quantum feed-back and quantum error correction in few qubit systems. Theory support for the first implementation closed loop quantum feed-back in superconducting circuits. 2. Quantum optics of propagating 1D microwaves interacting with artificial atoms (qubits): 2.a. Generation and detection of single microwave photons 2.b. Generation of entangled microwave photons 3. Investigation of relativistic effects in 1D transmission lines and cavities with parametrically modulated boundary conditions 3.a. Investigating the Unruh effect in superconducting circuits 3.b. Investigating the Twin paradox in superconducting circuits 4. Quantized surface acoustic waves coupled to superconducting circuits. Theoretical investigation of the possibility and performance of using a superconducting qubit as a source for single propagating phonons.
