Project funded by Swedish Research Council (Project grant), grant 2008-05152_VR. Participating organisations named by the source: Stockholm University. Funded amount: SEK 2,292,000, as stated by the source. Runs 2009-01-01 to 2011-12-31. Keywords: Oklassificerat, Unclassified. Source: OpenAIRE Graph, from the funder's project data (collected by OpenAIRE on 2025-12-05); national funding data, not CORDIS. Abstract given by the source: Quantum information science is a new and interdisciplinary field of research, bringing together quantum physics, computer science, and information technologies. It uses quantum mechanics principles and features, such as superposition principle, entanglement, and non-cloning theorem. These features have been incorporated into the classical information theory to improve or to create new information processing tasks in computing and communications. The project objectives include an experimental implementation of the secure quantum multiparty protocols, entanglement assisted communications, and photon/matter quantum interfaces. In the experiment, we will implement novel quantum information tasks by using our newly developed six-photon entangled states source. These photons generated from pulsed type II third order downconversion process. We will investigate the existing multi-particle quantum correlation of these states, and their entanglement properties using witness methods. These states will be used for quantum communication networking. We will study the optimal quantum and classical resources needed to perform specific distributed computations. Photons are the best suitable particles for carrying the information; heavy particles such as atoms and ions in solid state are well suitable for gate operations and quantum memories so interfacing light-matter is of the great interest. We will continue our work on last issues in collaboration with Kavli Institute of Nanoscience Delft.
