Project funded by Novo Nordisk Foundation (Projects), grant NNF24OC0093187. Participating organisations named by the source: DTU Technical University of Denmark. Runs n/a to 2028-06-14. Keywords: Materials, Nanotechnology, Photonics, Physics, Quantum Technologies. Source: OpenAIRE Graph, from the funder's project data (collected by OpenAIRE on 2026-06-29); national funding data, not CORDIS; selected because its keywords name quantum. Abstract given by the source: Control and steering of light propagation at will is one of the long-standing challenges in optics and photonics. In this project, we aim at achieving the manipulation of light at the nanoscale in the form of directional lightwaves supported on nanostructured transition metal dichalcogenide, which generate desired sysnthetic optical properties. Such nanostructured materials can support directional lightwave whose propagation direction can be controlled and steered at will by applied voltage. The proposed project is to demonstrate such manipulation of light at nanoscale. Voltage is one of the most convenient way to control lightwaves, which can lead to various applications. The success of this project may lead to a platform for a wide variety of potential applications, such as directional quantum emitter, steering of optical signals for telecommunication, biochemical sensing applications to detect various disease biomarkers.
