Project funded by Swedish Research Council (Grant for positions or stipends), grant 2022-00276_VR. Participating organisations named by the source: Linköping University. Funded amount: SEK 3,600,000, as stated by the source. Runs 2022-07-01 to 2025-06-30. Keywords: Naturvetenskap, Natural Sciences, Fysik, Physical Sciences, Den kondenserade materiens fysik, Condensed Matter Physics. Source: OpenAIRE Graph, from the funder's project data (collected by OpenAIRE on 2025-12-04); national funding data, not CORDIS. Abstract given by the source: This proposal aims to find new point defects suitable for quantum technologies. Point defects in wide band gap semiconductors are excellent for various quantum technologies such as single-photon emitters and qubits. Qubits are used in quantum computers to perform specific computations orders of magnitude faster than classical computers. Currently, only a handful of point defect systems are being studied and used. Identifying a point defect is time-consuming and requires a lot of data. Finding new point defects in new host materials is an ongoing scientific endeavor. Recently, 2D materials have been shown to improve the fundamental property for quantum technologies, the coherence time. This proposal aims to use high-throughput computational methods, developed for point defects by the applicant, on 2D materials. The host department provides expertise in theoretical approaches related to 2D materials. A successful project will accelerate the search for new point defect systems suitable for quantum technologies by utilizing data-driven methods.
