Project funded by Fundação para a Ciência e a Tecnologia, I.P. (FCT) (ESLOVAQUIA), grant DRI/ESLOVAQUIA/5141/2019. Funded amount: EUR 4,600, as stated by the source. Runs 2019-01-01 to 2020-12-31. Keywords: layered double hydroxide, cation ordering, field-assisted arrangement, 2-D quantum magnet. Source: OpenAIRE Graph, from the funder's project data (collected by OpenAIRE on 2025-07-20); national funding data, not CORDIS; selected because its keywords name quantum. Abstract given by the source: Este projeto visa desenvolver novos materiais magnéticos 2-D com base em hidróxidos duplos lamelares (LDHs). This project aims to develop new 2-D magnetic materials based on layered double hydroxides (LDHs). Cation-ordered magnetic LDHs are of great fundamental interest as convenient objects for the experimental modelling of 2-D quantum magnets. Cooperative phenomena in magnetic LDHs can be enhanced via formation of the arranged layers of their detached anisotropic crystallites. Moreover, the magnetic behaviour of such LDHs is dependent on interlayer distance which, in its turn, is determined by size/orientation of the intercalated anions and the relative amount of crystal water. All this makes magnetic LDHs promising for applications as environmental sensors. Development of such materials requires consolidation of specialists of complementary expertise, both in preparation and crystal structure characterization of magnetic LDHs and in formation of arranged layers (UAVR), as well as in the detailed study of their magnetic properties followed by theoretical modelling (UJPS).
