Project funded by Novo Nordisk Foundation (Investigators), grant NNF22OC0075986. Participating organisations named by the source: Aarhus University. Runs 2029-12-31 to n/a. Keywords: Physics, Quantum Technologies. Source: OpenAIRE Graph, from the funder's project data (collected by OpenAIRE on 2025-08-01); national funding data, not CORDIS. Abstract given by the source: Almost 40 years ago Nobel laureate R. Feynman proposed that nature could help us to solve some of the major outstanding scientific questions. This method is called quantum simulation and today several systems are under scrutiny to build such quantum simulators._x000D_ _x000D_ A prominent candidate are ultracold quantum gases. These systems typically consist of neutral atoms cooled close to absolute zero temperature. At these temperatures the atoms lose their individual classical character and enter a joint quantum statue. Thus, they provide highly versatile quantum systems, which can be controlled with unprecedented flexibility._x000D_ _x000D_ In the proposed project we will extend the current technological boundaries of ultracold quantum gas simulators. This will allow us to conduct quantum simulation projects investigating the effect of impurities in non-interacting and homogeneous quantum gases. The outcome will improve our understanding of quantum systems with relevance for superfluids and superconductors.
