Project funded by Swedish Research Council (Project grant), grant 2014-05290_VR. Participating organisations named by the source: Chalmers University of Technology. Funded amount: SEK 3,200,000, as stated by the source. Runs 2015-01-01 to 2018-12-31. Keywords: Naturvetenskap, Natural Sciences, Fysik, Physical Sciences, Den kondenserade materiens fysik, Condensed Matter Physics. Source: OpenAIRE Graph, from the funder's project data (collected by OpenAIRE on 2025-12-05); national funding data, not CORDIS. Abstract given by the source: In this project we will develop novel approaches to study High critical Temperature Superconductors at the nanoscale where local order plays a crucial role. Our experiments will be realized on the boost of nanotechnologies applied to HTS to go beyond the present state of the art. An YBa2Cu3O7-x Single Electron Tunneling transistor (SET) - a device working in the charging regime- will be used as a spectroscopic tool with unprecedented energy resolution. The idea is to study the appearance of a fully gapped superconductivity at low temperature in high magnetic field and as a function of doping, and its possible connection with the charge stripe order recently established in this material at low doping levels. One of the outcomes of this project will be the reinterpretation of the superconducting dome in the cuprates phase diagram where the existence of an imaginary order parameter has to be included. We will also study the superconductive and noise properties of YBCO nanowires as a function of doping and the nanowires alignment with respect to the main substrate axis. The rotational/translational symmetry breaking, induced by a local charge/spin order is expected to determine a strong anisotropy of the transport properties in nanoscale devices. Stripe domains moving, reorienting, or changing size over time should also strongly affect both resistance and critical current fluctuations.
