Project funded by Swedish Research Council (Project grant), grant 2017-04467_VR. Participating organisations named by the source: Stockholm University. Funded amount: SEK 3,300,000, as stated by the source. Runs 2018-01-01 to 2021-12-31. Keywords: Naturvetenskap, Natural Sciences, Fysik, Physical Sciences, Atom- och molekylfysik och optik, Atom and Molecular Physics and Optics. Source: OpenAIRE Graph, from the funder's project data (collected by OpenAIRE on 2025-12-04); national funding data, not CORDIS. Abstract given by the source: The aim of this proposal is to develop a hybrid platform for quantum communication consisting of a spontaneous parametric down-conversion entangled photon source and a quantum emitter. Such a platform would be a building block of a quantum network where the quantum emitter serves as quantum memory node that is integrated in the network via photons at telecommunication wavelength. The compatibility of the two constituents will be tested via measurements of quantum interference and by preforming a Bell-measurement enabled protocol of teleportation. The significance of this approach comes from the compatibility with the current telecommunication standards and fiber networks. Namely, the current implementations of quantum networks in majority either lack the quantum memory or operate at the wavelengths that are not communication-industry compatible. By fulfilling the goals of this proposal we would take a decisive step towards practical implementation of quantum communication. The project will be carried in several steps where we will start by investigation of the photon spectral correlation in the down-conversion source, search for the optimal method of excitation for the quantum emitter, to the measurements of the quantum interference of the two dissimilar sources and implementation of the quantum teleportation protocol.
