Operation co-funded by EU cohesion policy (European Regional Development Fund (ERDF)) under the programme Multi-regional Spain - ERDF (2014ES16RFOP002), managing authority: Subdirección General de Gestión del FEDER, de la Dirección General de Fondos Europeos del Ministerio de Hacienda.. The source names no beneficiary for this operation. Location: Spain. Budget: total eligible expenditure EUR 425,450; EU co-financing EUR 212,725 (co-financing rate 50%), as stated by the source. Runs 2019-01-01 to 2021-12-31. Source: Kohesio, EU cohesion policy projects managed by national and regional authorities (not CORDIS); selected because its summary names quantum technology. Summary from Kohesio (English machine translation by the source): We propose the acquisition of a Laser-MBE system for the growth of thin films with atomic control of their structure and composition. It is a laser ablation system in an ultra high vacuum environment with separated ablation sources and growth monitorization by Reflection High Energy Electron Diffraction RHEED. The system is modular and can be up graded with new chambers and diagnose spectroscopies. The proposers take a firm commitment in co-financing system up- grade in coming years with own resources. Application for the same equipment in last year¿s call obtained a grade of 95/100 but was not approved due to lack of funding availability. A similar system does not exist in our environment and it will allow accomplishing projects and development at the forefront of the research in Physics and Chemistry in the framework of Nanoscience and Nanotechnology. The installation of the Laser MBE will signify a radical expansion in the capabilities and performances of the CAI de Técnicas Físicas y Químicas and will catalyze the creation of new research lines on nanostructures of oxide materials. We have received letter of interest and support of more than 30 research groups which would benefit from the use of the proposed infrastructure. The Laser MBE will enable developments in the framework of the novel Quantum Materials, an emergent topic in current research in condensed matter and will thus allow attracting talent and resources through excellence calls.
