Project funded by Novo Nordisk Foundation (Investigators), grant NNF22OC0075937. Participating organisations named by the source: Aarhus University. Runs n/a to 2029-12-31. Keywords: Biological Physics, Nanotechnology, Photonics, Physics, Quantum Technologies. Source: OpenAIRE Graph, from the funder's project data (collected by OpenAIRE on 2025-08-01); national funding data, not CORDIS. Abstract given by the source: Gas sensing is central for monitoring our environment and establishing medical diagnostics. Micro-/nano-mechanical resonators, in the form of e.g. ultrathin vibrating drums or strings, can react very strongly to the adsorption of ambient molecules or tiny changes in the surrounding pressure. This project will engineer optomechanical orchestras, consisting of nanostrings sculpted on ultrathin nanodrums, whose vibrations will be monitored using lasers. These compact, inexpensive and versatile sensors will allow for reaching unsurpassed sensitivities for noninvasive ultrasonic wave detection or for detecting individual molecules, and, in the longer term, for quantum technologies._x000D_
