Project funded by Fundação para a Ciência e a Tecnologia, I.P. (FCT) (PROGRAMA PESSOA), grant DRI/PROGRAMA PESSOA/3734/2017. Funded amount: EUR 3,000, as stated by the source. Runs 2017-01-01 to 2018-12-31. Keywords: Highly-Charged-Ions, Transition Energies, and Spectroscopy. Source: OpenAIRE Graph, from the funder's project data (collected by OpenAIRE on 2025-07-20); national funding data, not CORDIS. Abstract given by the source: Os iões altamente carregados (HCI, do inglês "Highly Charged Ions") são sistemas atómicos relativamente simples, em comparação com os átomos neutros, em que se pode controlar o número de electrões ligados. The highly charged ions (HCI) are relatively simple atomic systems compared with neutral atoms, in which one can control the number of bound electrons. Recently, due to these characteristics and progress in the production and analysis of HCI, these systems have been the subject of thorough study and applications in various fields such as astrophysics, plasma physics, microelectronics and nanotechnology (ion implantation and ion microprobes), computing quantum, energy (fusion), medicine and biotechnology. The aim of this project is the experimental and theoretical study of various HCI, namely the determination with high precision of their energies and transition probabilities (banned and allowed). It will be provide the data required for the analysis of spectra produced by different plasmas, as well as for the development of technology and biomedical devices, and to test the quantum electrodynamics.
