Project funded by Swedish Research Council (Project grant), grant 2016-05167_VR. Participating organisations named by the source: KTH, Royal Institute of Technology. Funded amount: SEK 3,100,000, as stated by the source. Runs 2017-01-01 to 2020-12-31. Keywords: Naturvetenskap, Natural Sciences, Fysik, Physical Sciences, Annan fysik, Other Physics Topics. Abstract given by the source: I propose a set of collaborative research projects in mathematical physics related to non-equilibrium phenomena in exactly solvable quantum many-body systems. The motivations come from recent advances to simulate such systems using ultra-cold atoms in optical lattices, from renewed interests to understand the emergence of non-equilibrium steady states, and from fundamental questions about heat and charge transport in quantum wires and topological insulators. One class of systems of current interest are Luttinger liquids with non-local interactions, either isolated, coupled to reservoirs, or coupled to a quantized 3+1D electromagnetic field. As part of existing collaborative efforts I propose to study transport of heat and electric charge in these systems using realistic non-equilibrium approaches. In this project mainly analytic mathematical methods are used, and there is some overalp with research topics in functional analysis, non-commutative geometry, and special function theory.
