Project funded by Swedish Research Council (Project grant), grant 2012-04807_VR. Participating organisations named by the source: Chalmers University of Technology. Funded amount: SEK 2,325,000, as stated by the source. Runs 2013-01-01 to 2015-12-31. Keywords: Naturvetenskap, Natural Sciences, Fysik, Physical Sciences, Den kondenserade materiens fysik, Condensed Matter Physics. Source: OpenAIRE Graph, from the funder's project data (collected by OpenAIRE on 2025-12-04); national funding data, not CORDIS. Abstract given by the source: We will develop a comprehensive theoretical description of mesoscopic nanoelectromechanical and nanospintronics devices driven far from equilibrium by injected currents and/or by intense microwave irradiation when coherent quantum phenomena are of crucial importance. The following subjects will be in the focus of our considerations: 1. New mechanisms for cooling and sensing of carbon-nanotube-based nanomechanical resonators. Here the primary emphasis will be on the ground state cooling regimes. 2. Electromechanics of suspended graphene nanoribbon in a quantum Hall regime. We will look into the fundamentally new type of excitation generated by a quantum interplay between electronic and elastic edge states. 3. Quantum interference phenomena in carbon-nanotube and grafene-nanoribbons based superconducting and normal junctions subject to spin-orbit interactions and their implementation in novel spintronics devices. The solution of the problems formulated in the proposed project will reveal novel physical concepts, which may be used as a basis for the development of novel nanospintronic and nanomechanical devices.
