Project funded by Swedish Research Council (Project grant), grant 2012-04501_VR. Participating organisations named by the source: Lund University. Funded amount: SEK 2,850,000, as stated by the source. Runs 2013-01-01 to 2015-12-31. Keywords: Naturvetenskap, Natural Sciences, Fysik, Physical Sciences, Den kondenserade materiens fysik, Condensed Matter Physics. Source: OpenAIRE Graph, from the funder's project data (collected by OpenAIRE on 2025-12-04); national funding data, not CORDIS. Abstract given by the source: In this project we will study the study the behaviour of many-body states in nanowires that have been designed to support novel and unusual electronic states. One such sought after state is the exciton crystal which is a state where excitons are correlated in space along the wire. It is here a strong advantage to have a repulsive interaction between the excitons, which we will get by using core-shell wires. By using a gate and suitable wires we will study charged exciton gases using light scattering. We will also put a strong emphasis on the study of electron and hole gases in nanowires The nanowires in this case will be degenerately doped such that the wires are metallic. We have fabricated such wires and obtained good photoluminescence from them which allows a large set of unique experiments to be performed in the near future. As a precursor to the many-body states we will investigate deep quantum dots in wires with a pn-junction where the energy levels of charged and neutral multi-exciton states will be determined and compared with realistic theory.
