Outside the quantum-technology scope of this portal (particle and nuclear physics (quantum chromodynamics)): the title names quantum science but no quantum technology. The record is kept for reference and left out of the default projects listing and counts.
Project funded by Swedish Research Council (Project grant), grant 2008-04252_VR. Participating organisations named by the source: Lund University. Funded amount: SEK 1,028,000, as stated by the source. Runs 2009-01-01 to 2010-12-31. Keywords: Oklassificerat, Unclassified. Source: OpenAIRE Graph, from the funder's project data (collected by OpenAIRE on 2025-12-06); national funding data, not CORDIS. Abstract given by the source: Although QCD is now well established as the correct theory of strong interactions, there are still many unsolved problems. The vacuum is non-trivial, perturbative expansions converge badly and non-linear effects are important. Therefore resummation techniques, approximation methods, models and computer simulations are all important. Understanding background effects from the strong force is also essential in searches for "new physics", e.g. at the LHC. The Lund group has contributed very significantly to the development of the field. Some examples are: (i) hadronization models and properties; (ii) parton cascades in hard processes and at small x; (iii) the perturbative-nonperturbative interphase; (iv) underlying events and soft physics in hadronic collisions; (v) implications of QCD in searches and studies of new physics; (vi) low-energy effective theories; (vii) implications for nonleptonic matrix elements and other low-energy approaches to QCD; and (viii) event generator development and maintenance. The research of the group is internationally well known and respected, and results are very actively used by the experimental community in particle physics. We here apply for the necessary financial support, for travel, visitors and computers, to allow us to continue with this successful program.
