Project funded by Fundação para a Ciência e a Tecnologia, I.P. (FCT) (Concurso para Projetos Exploratórios no âmbito do Programa University of Texas at Austin Portugal - 2021), grant UTAP-EXPL/NPN/0022/2021. Funded amount: EUR 50,000, as stated by the source. Runs 2022-03-01 to 2023-05-28. Keywords: metamaterials, single photon emitters, quantum dots, coupled dipoles, Engineering and technology. Source: OpenAIRE Graph, from the funder's project data (collected by OpenAIRE on 2026-07-23); national funding data, not CORDIS. Abstract given by the source: Metamaterials, and their ultra-flat counterpart, metasurfaces, are artificial media composed of specifically designed nanomaterials which can tailor the interaction with light fields in ways beyond what can be achieved with natural materials. Metamaterials have made huge advances in light control possible leading to new applications in efficient and compact nanophotonic devices that help easing miniaturisation and energy consumption issues in modern communications. This project is concerned with realising quantum metasurfaces, a new class of metamaterials that make use of quantum emitters, in particular quantum dots. The properties of the single photon emitters play a key role and enable new functionalities for integrated quantum photonics.
