Funded amount: SEK 3,700,000, as stated by the source. Runs 2023-01-01 to 2026-12-31. Keywords: Naturvetenskap, Natural Sciences, Fysik, Physical Sciences, Den kondenserade materiens fysik, Condensed Matter Physics. Source: OpenAIRE Graph, from the funder's project data (collected by OpenAIRE on 2025-12-05); national funding data, not CORDIS. Abstract given by the source: The overall goal of this project is to advance the detailed understanding of quantum entanglement in technologically important materials. To achieve such goal, we will focus on metal organic framework (MOF) model materials. They are highly tunable quantum simulators that allow practically accessible energy scales for experimental studies. For some carefully selected MOF (S=1/2 spin ladder and square-lattice 2D Heisenberg antiferromagnet, 2DHAF) we will conduct advanced characterizations of the atomic structure along with magnetic spin structure and excitations. We will uniquely combine the strengths and capabilities of neutron scattering, muon spin rotation and synchrotron X-ray scattering methods. Further, we have recently finalized our long-standing technical development of an in-situ uni-axial pressure device (UAPD) that allow us to both drastically increase the reachable phase space, but also to individually tune and effectively disentangle magnetic exchange interactions. In more detail, for the spin ladder compound we will use our UAPD to conduct the very first instance of a clean crossover from strong-leg to strong-rung spin ladder tuning (without the risk of induced chemical disorder). Further, for the 2DHAF we aim for individual tailoring of J’s, along with the unique possibility to directly investigate the effect of rotational symmetry breaking of the square lattice. The systematic high-quality experimental data is aimed to connect to and improve theoretical models.
