Project funded by Fundação para a Ciência e a Tecnologia, I.P. (FCT) (SERVIA), grant DRI/SERVIA/5569/2020. Funded amount: EUR 4,000, as stated by the source. Runs 2020-01-01 to 2021-12-31. Keywords: Nonlinear optics, Quantum simulations. Source: OpenAIRE Graph, from the funder's project data (collected by OpenAIRE on 2025-07-21); national funding data, not CORDIS. Abstract given by the source: Um dos desafios das simulações quânticas é o desenvolvimento de simuladores que sigam as mesmas leis físicas do sistema pretendido. One of the key challenges of quantum simulations is to develop versatile platforms that can match the physical laws of the system being emulated. In this context, the recent advent of quantum fluids of light brought exciting opportunities. Indeed, featuring an effective interparticle interaction set by the nonlinear optical properties of the media, a fluid of light has potential to excel as a quantum simulator, benefiting from optical materials and light manipulation techniques that provide unprecedented control of the experimental conditions. In particular, atomic vapors are among the most promising optical media given their well-known tunable nonlinear optical properties. This research proposal targets a deeper understanding of the phenomena governing fluids of light in hot atomic vapors. Merging the complementary competencies of the research groups, we aim towards a theoretical investigation and experimental characterization of these fluids and their quantum-like [shortened; the full text is on the OpenAIRE page]
