Operation co-funded by EU cohesion policy (European Regional Development Fund (ERDF)) under the programme Integrated Infrastructure - SK - ERDF/CF (2014SK16M1OP001), managing authority: Ministerstvo dopravy a výstavby SR. Beneficiary: Ústav experimentálnej fyziky Slovenskej akadémie vied. Location: Košice Region (NUTS SK042); Slovakia. Budget: total eligible expenditure EUR 199,992.59; EU co-financing EUR 169,993.7 (co-financing rate 85%), as stated by the source. Runs 2020-01-01 to 2023-01-06. Summary from Kohesio (English machine translation by the source): Excellent research plays one of the main challenges in the process of structural transformation of our economy. Slovak research in the field of low temperature physics, represented by the joint Centre of Low Temperature Physics (CFNT) of the Institute of Experimental Physics of SAS in Košice and the Faculty of Natural Sciences of UPJŠ in Košice, is excellent and world-renowned. This is evidenced by many facts, one of the most recent being the award of a grant from the European Microkelvin Platform (EMP, see www.emplatform.eu), under the H2020 call for advanced European research infrastructures. The CFNT in recent years, mainly thanks to the EU Structural Funds, has not only restored its infrastructure in extreme conditions (low temperatures, high pressures and strong magnetic fields), but has extended it to nano-material technologies. The importance of research in nanotechnologies, quantum materials and quantum computers is also underlined by the recently launched EU flagship initiative, which is based on the assumption that low-temperature quantum nanotechnology research will be the dominant direction not only in the EU but also in the world. Failure to participate in this initiative would mean a knowledge and technological lag. The aim of the present project is to fund complementary activity to the EMF project, which will help its implementation. This will involve improving and streamlining the infrastructure that CFNT has committed itself to providing external users in the context of the so-called ‘trans-national access’ and, on the other hand, leading independent research using that infrastructure. The present project is thus focused on research of selected quantum materials and development of methods and technologies for their study. It fulfils the domain RIS3 SK – Industry for the 21st century in the trend of advanced materials and nano-technologies for industry and energy (i) nano-structure materials, (ii) sensors and elements, and (iii) innovative material [shortened; the full text is on the Kohesio page]
