Project funded by Swedish Research Council (Grant for positions or stipends), grant 2025-00505_VR. Participating organisations named by the source: Lund University. Funded amount: SEK 3,900,000, as stated by the source. Runs 2025-07-01 to 2028-06-30. Keywords: Naturvetenskap, Natural Sciences, Fysik, Physical Sciences, Atom- och molekylfysik och optik, Atom and Molecular Physics and Optics. Source: OpenAIRE Graph, from the funder's project data (collected by OpenAIRE on 2025-12-05); national funding data, not CORDIS. Abstract given by the source: Over the last decade, numerous theoretical studies have demonstrated the advantage of using entangled photons over classical light in non-linear spectroscopy, but their experimental utilization remains challenging. The optimal use of entanglement in spectroscopy requires a molecule to interact only with the photons that are entangled. This is feasible with low-flux entangled photons, but it results in weak, hard-to-detect signals. High-flux entangled photons can increase the signal strength, but this allows the molecule to interact with both entangled and non-entangled photons, and the signal from non-entangled photons can obscure that of entangled photons. This project aims to address this challenge by developing methods that enable the use of high-flux entangled photons in spectroscopy without losing quantum entanglement features. The first two years will be dedicated to understanding the role of intense entangled photons in different kinds of spectroscopies, along with designing methods that help eliminate signals stemming from non-entangled photons. The final year of the project will be dedicated to the experimental implementation of the methods developed during the first two years. This project will provide a theoretical framework for developing non-linear spectroscopies that rely on intense entangled photons. Additionally, it will motivate both theoretical and experimental studies toward using quantum spectroscopy to study molecular dynamics.
