Project funded by Swedish Research Council (Project grant), grant 2011-04038_VR. Participating organisations named by the source: Stockholm University. Funded amount: SEK 2,400,000, as stated by the source. Runs 2012-01-01 to 2014-12-31. Keywords: Naturvetenskap, Natural Sciences, Fysik, Physical Sciences, Atom- och molekylfysik och optik, Atom and Molecular Physics and Optics. Source: OpenAIRE Graph, from the funder's project data (collected by OpenAIRE on 2025-12-05); national funding data, not CORDIS. Abstract given by the source: Photonic quantum information is an interdisciplinary field of research, bringing together quantum physics, photonics, computer science, and information theory. It exploits quantum mechanics characteristics: superpositions, contextuality, entanglement, and nonlocality. These features have been incorporated into the classical information theory to improve or to create new information processing tasks in cryptography and communications. The project is divided into subprojects themes, detailing steps towards the ultimate goal, integration of quantum solution for long distance, high rate, multi-user secure communication in optical fiber and free space-link network. 1. Subproject: Quantum Tools: qubit, qutrit, and multipartite entanglement sources and superconducting nanowires single photon detection. 2. Subproject: Tests on Quantum: Demonstrations of the violation of generalized Bell inequalities for testing the nonlocality and the violation of Cabello inequalities for testing the contextuality. 3. Subproject: Secure Quantum Communication: Implementation of multi-user quantum key distribution (QKD) within a real network topology, prototype for mobile high rate medium range free-space QKD, and secure multiparty communication protocols.
