Funded amount: EUR 130,970, as stated by the source. Runs 2018-09-01 to 2022-03-31. Keywords: Quantum Oblivious Transfer, Secure Multiparty Computation, Privacy Preserving Data Mining, Genome Data Mining, Engineering and technology. Source: OpenAIRE Graph, from the funder's project data (collected by OpenAIRE on 2025-07-19); national funding data, not CORDIS. Abstract given by the source: QuantumMining project is going to design and implement a quantum oblivious transfer (QOT) protocol to support secure multiparty computation. Oblivious transfer (OT) is a basic cryptographic primitive for secure multiparty computation. Nevertheless, its classical implementation is computationally very demanding requiring a strong relaxation in the security to make its usage practical. A quantum implementation has the potentially to offer both speed and security making OT and consequently secure multiparty computation broadly available. Secure multiparty computation has applications ranging from privacy preserving data mining, for instance to access Genome databases, to machine-to-machine communications, for instance in Internet of Things or in vehicular networks. In the QuantumMining project, we are going to use the QOT to develop quantum protocols and services to support privacy preserving data mining in Genome databases. Genome databases are extensive repositories of confidential information where security and privacy plays a very important role, since it enables uniquely identification of its owner. Due to that, genome databases are commonly distributed by different locations. This demands protocols to support privacy preserving data mining between databases. Privacy preserving data mining addresses the problem of running data mining algorithms on confidential data that must not be revealed, even to the party that runs the algorithm. To achieve that goal one needs to consider a completed trustable and secure QOT protocol. QuantumMining project is going to address practical security issues of QOT implementations between genome databases. Data mining associated to genome databases can enable personalized medicine based on personal genome (which includes vaccines, drugs, among others), and helping on the discovery of novel genome-phenome associations. However, this major breakthrough has had limited impact due to the inefficiency of the security and privacy [shortened; the full text is on the OpenAIRE page]
