Project funded by Novo Nordisk Foundation (Projects), grant NNF24OC0094739. Participating organisations named by the source: DTU Technical University of Denmark. Runs n/a to 2028-08-31. Keywords: Nanotechnology, Photonics, Physics, Quantum Technologies. Source: OpenAIRE Graph, from the funder's project data (collected by OpenAIRE on 2026-06-29); national funding data, not CORDIS. Abstract given by the source: A computer that utilizes the laws of quantum mechanics will be able to understand the behavior of biological molecules and design new drugs—a task that is currently impossible for the most powerful computer in the world._x000D_ One way to build a quantum computer is to use photons as quantum bits and make them interfere to perform operations. The challenge is that photons must be completely identical to each other in order to interfere successfully, and we need many of them to achieve the so-called quantum advantage. Scientists have developed potentially excellent emitters of identical photons, but they still don't know how to activate them correctly. This is similar to having excellent light bulbs, without knowing how to switch them on!_x000D_ In this project, we will design innovative devices and develop a new technique to stimulate them with short laser pulses. Our goal is to deliver many identical photons on-demand, thereby bringing society one step closer to quantum computing.
