Project funded by Novo Nordisk Foundation (Projects), grant NNF24OC0090798. Participating organisations named by the source: DTU Technical University of Denmark. Runs n/a to 2026-11-30. Source: OpenAIRE Graph, from the funder's project data (collected by OpenAIRE on 2026-06-29); national funding data, not CORDIS. Abstract given by the source: Everybody knows that to handle with light beams one needs lenses, mirrors, prisms, optical fibers and other photonics elements. The current trend in miniaturization of photonic components is connected with so-called metasurfaces: flat arrays of extremely thin (few hundred of nanometers in thickness) objects that behave as nanoscale analogues of well-known antennas. Such arrays can substitute bulky macroscale optical elements. The broad commercialization of metasurfaces as devices for light beam control like lenses are on the way. However, what is currently lacking is extension of metasurfaces in the realms of reconfigurable adaptive optical elements and quantum photonic circuits. The project goal is to use the sabbatical period to unite the efforts of scientists from DTU and the pool of the Australian Universities associated with the Transformative Meta-Optical Systems Centre, in developing technology for acquiring effective metasurface solutions for sensing and quantum communications.
