Benchmark: Random Clifford unitary size
Benchmarks / System level (whole processor)
The largest random N-qubit Clifford unitary a computer runs reliably, as defined for KPI Comp 2a of the Quantum Flagship.

How it is measured
Random Clifford circuits are efficient to simulate classically, so their outputs can be checked at any size; the largest size that runs reliably is reported.
Limitations and criticisms
- Clifford circuits do not include the non-Clifford gates that give quantum advantage.
- The KPI booklet gives the value, not a common published protocol; see the KPI page for its method as stated.
Used in European procurements
None of the procurement documents read for this release names it.
