KPI Comp 2a: European technical leadership: circuit size

KPI observatory / Quantum Computing

Largest quantum computing capacity of an EU computing system on a European or widely adopted global benchmark: the largest random N-qubit Clifford unitary that can be run reliably.

Official values: survey results of the Quantum Flagship Strategic Advisory Board, as published. Trajectory and live measure: calculations of this portal, not the assessment of the SAB.

Remarks and method

  • Booklet note f (page 11; scorecard note d): a benchmarking method for these indicators was proposed in 2024 and their values were not ready when the booklet was published.
  • These indicators were recently defined; the 2030 target is under review (booklet notes, page 20).

Method as stated: Published benchmarks named in the booklet (reference Computing 2).

Trajectory (calculated by the portal)

qubits

Not assessed

Not assessed: The 2030 target is not set or under review.

The booklet rates each indicator on its own four-level scale (ahead of schedule, on schedule, needs progress, behind schedule); that assessment is not reproduced here.

Live measure of the portal

No automatic measure. Benchmark results (circuit size) are not held by the portal.
