KPI Eco 6: Supply chain and strategic autonomy
KPI observatory / Ecosystem
Strategically important quantum technology components once imported into the EU and now produced in the EU.
Official values: survey results of the Quantum Flagship Strategic Advisory Board, as published. Trajectory and live measure: calculations of this portal, not the assessment of the SAB.
Official values
| Year | Value (definition page 8) | Scorecard (page 4) |
|---|---|---|
| 2021 | 0 | 0 |
| 2022 | 35 | 35 |
| 2023 | 44 | 44 |
| 2024 | 48 | 48 |
| Progression per year | +3 | |
| 2030 target | 60 | 60 |
Definition: Official KPI values and 2030 targets
Remarks and method
- The 2021 value is zero by definition; later values count the progress made since 2021.
Method as stated: Open online KPI survey (booklet reference Ecosystem 6).
Trajectory (calculated by the portal)
components
On pace
On pace: recent pace 2021-2024: (48 - 0) / 3 = 16 a year; needed pace to 2030: (60 - 48) / 6 = 2 a year; compound growth: recent n/a, needed +3.8% a year. Portal calculation, not the SAB assessment.
At the recent linear pace the value would be about 144 in 2030.
The booklet rates each indicator on its own four-level scale (ahead of schedule, on schedule, needs progress, behind schedule); that assessment is not reproduced here.

Live measure of the portal
A proxy calculated by the portal from its own data; it is not the official value and measures something related, not the same thing.
Parts-tree components with companies in EU-funded projects

| Components in the parts tree | 83 |

Counted
- Readout resonators and Purcell filters
- Josephson parametric amplifiers
- Quantum-dot single-photon sources
- Waveguide material platforms
- Silicon structures (Si/SiGe and Si-MOS)
- Germanium hole devices
- Quantum random number generators
- Homodyne and heterodyne detectors
- Planar lightwave circuit interferometers
Data as of 2026-10-16. Assembled on 2026-11-06.
How it is calculated
Components of the source-verified parts tree for which at least one company takes part in a CORDIS quantum project whose title names the component, as on the technology map.
Coverage: Components of the parts tree; CORDIS projects and organisations of the portal snapshot.
Limitations:
- A company in an EU-funded project about a component is not proof that the component is produced in the EU.
- The SAB counts components formerly imported and now made in the EU; the portal cannot observe imports.
