KPI Sim 1: Performance

KPI observatory / Quantum Simulation

Distinct EU quantum simulators (services) that beat the best known algorithm on the best classical computer on at least one relevant real-life problem.

Official values: survey results of the Quantum Flagship Strategic Advisory Board, as published. Trajectory and live measure: calculations of this portal, not the assessment of the SAB.

Remarks and method

  • Current examples work only in principle; no real-life problem has been solved yet.

Method as stated: Booklet reference Simulation 1.

Trajectory (calculated by the portal)

simulators

Slower than needed

Slower than needed: recent pace 2021-2024: (0 - 0) / 3 = 0 a year; needed pace to 2030: (8 - 0) / 6 = 1.3 a year; compound growth: recent n/a, needed n/a a year. Portal calculation, not the SAB assessment.

At the recent linear pace the value would be about 0 in 2030.

The booklet rates each indicator on its own four-level scale (ahead of schedule, on schedule, needs progress, behind schedule); that assessment is not reproduced here.

Live measure of the portal

No automatic measure. Quantum advantage needs benchmark results the portal does not hold.
