Defence: roundup of week 40, 2026

How items are tagged

An item belongs to Defence when its title or summary names one of these terms as a whole word, in any case and with an optional final “s”: defence, defense, military, armed forces, army, navy, air force, NATO, dual-use, dual use, ministry of defence, European Defence Fund, European Defence Agency, warfare, battlefield, national security, submarine.

These phrases use a term in another sense and are taken out of the text first: thesis defence, thesis defense, PhD defence, PhD defense, defence of the thesis.

Rule set sector-rules-2026-10-29. The sector stands for the facet sector-dual-use of the portal’s technology taxonomy and the sector “Defence and civil dual use” of the adoption directory. Keyword rules can miss an item or tag one loosely; the terms shown with each item let you judge.
