KPI Comp 3: European impact leadership
KPI observatory / Quantum Computing
Quantum algorithms and use cases with a clear impact orientation in basic and applied science, industry and the public sector, in line with the UN and EU 2030 goals.
Official values: survey results of the Quantum Flagship Strategic Advisory Board, as published. Trajectory and live measure: calculations of this portal, not the assessment of the SAB.

| 2021 | 70 | 70 |
| 2022 | 70 | 70 |
| 2023 | 97 | 97 |

| 2030 target | 500 | 500 |
Definition: Official KPI values and 2030 targets
Remarks and method
- Data from the QuIC use-case database.
Method as stated: QuIC database of computing and simulation use cases (booklet reference Computing 3).
Trajectory (calculated by the portal)
use cases
Slower than needed
Slower than needed: recent pace 2021-2024: (102 - 70) / 3 = 10.7 a year; needed pace to 2030: (500 - 102) / 6 = 66.3 a year; compound growth: recent +13.4%, needed +30.3% a year. Portal calculation, not the SAB assessment.
At the recent linear pace the value would be about 166 in 2030.
The booklet rates each indicator on its own four-level scale (ahead of schedule, on schedule, needs progress, behind schedule); that assessment is not reproduced here.

Live measure of the portal
A proxy calculated by the portal from its own data; it is not the official value and measures something related, not the same thing.

Trend of the measure from 2023 to 2026: rising, +3.3 a year on average.
Data as of 2026-10-21. Assembled on 2026-11-04.
How it is calculated
Use cases of the adoption directory classified as quantum computing, counted cumulatively by the year of their source.
Coverage: The source-verified use cases of the adoption directory.
Limitations:
- A curated selection; the SAB counts the QuIC use-case database, which is much larger.
