KPI Comp 4b: Accessibility: HPC/QCS network
KPI observatory / Quantum Computing
Access through the HPC and quantum computing network, following the Digital Decade indicator: operational quantum computers or simulators, including as accelerators of HPC supercomputers, deployed and accessible to user communities.
Official values: survey results of the Quantum Flagship Strategic Advisory Board, as published. Trajectory and live measure: calculations of this portal, not the assessment of the SAB.

Remarks and method
The booklet gives no remark for this indicator.
Method as stated: Consensus of the KPI survey; for 2024 the booklet names AQT with LRZ, and Forschungszentrum Jülich (reference Computing 4).
Trajectory (calculated by the portal)
computers or simulators
On pace
On pace: recent pace 2021-2024: (2 - 0) / 3 = 0.7 a year; needed pace to 2030: (5 - 2) / 6 = 0.5 a year; compound growth: recent n/a, needed +16.5% a year. Portal calculation, not the SAB assessment.
At the recent linear pace the value would be about 6 in 2030.
The booklet rates each indicator on its own four-level scale (ahead of schedule, on schedule, needs progress, behind schedule); that assessment is not reproduced here.

Live measure of the portal
A proxy calculated by the portal from its own data; it is not the official value and measures something related, not the same thing.
EuroHPC quantum systems commissioned and accepting applications
6 systems EuroHPC quantum computers and simulators commissioned or operational and accepting applications
| Year | Value |
|---|---|
| 2025 | 3 |
| 2026 | 6 |
Trend of the measure from 2025 to 2026: rising, +3.0 a year on average.
Target reached in the count of the portal, compared with the 2030 target.
Target reached: 6 in 2026 against a 2030 target of 5; recent pace 2025-2026: (6 - 3) / 1 = 3 a year.
| Systems counted | Piast-Q (procured as EuroQCS-Poland) (PL, 2025), VLQ (procured as LUMI-Q) (CZ, 2025), Euro-Q-Exa (DE, 2026), Lucy (procured as EuroQCS-France) (FR, 2026), EuroQCS-Spain (ES, 2026), Ruby (HPCQS) (FR, 2025) |
|---|---|
| National systems outside EuroHPC, not counted | Quantum Spain quantum computer at BSC-CNS (ES, 2026) |
Data as of 2026-10-28. Assembled on 2026-11-02.
How it is calculated
Systems of the deployment tracker in the EuroHPC programme, for computing or simulation, whose evidence shows them commissioned (inaugurated) or operational and whose user access is open, counted cumulatively by the year of commissioning. This follows the Digital Decade wording quoted by the booklet: operational and accessible to user communities.
Coverage: The source-verified deployment tracker; national machines outside EuroHPC are shown apart and not counted.
Limitations:
- Inaugurated is not always confirmed production operation; the tracker says so per system.
- Access dates are often not stated, so the year is the commissioning year.
