Quantum Europe alerts: privacy note
Legal and privacy: 7 views
Demonstration site: this note is owner-reviewed for demonstration (28 October 2026) and is not a legal review. The data controller is the portal owner, Oscar Diez, who operates this demonstration in a personal capacity. E-mail digests stay switched off on this demonstration site.
- Purpose: show signed-in members new public portal items that match the interests they saved, in My Quantum Europe and, only if they ask, in a daily or weekly e-mail digest.
- Legal basis: the panel is part of the member service you signed up for; the e-mail digest needs your separate consent, given by ticking a box on the alert settings form and recorded with its time and the wording version (alerts-2026-10-25). You can withdraw it at any time.
- Stored with your account: the alert kinds you keep, whether you want e-mail and how often, the consent time and wording version, the time of the last digest and a random unsubscribe code. Your interests are the ones you already saved under My interests. Nothing else.
- Not stored: what you see, open or click in the panel or the e-mail. The e-mail is plain text with no images and no tracking pixel; links point straight to portal or official pages.
- Your e-mail address is the one of your account. It is read only when a digest is sent and is passed to the portal’s outgoing mail service for that purpose only. No digest is sent without your opt-in.
- Early-warning signals (policy roles only): an e-mail gives only the number of new signals and asks you to sign in; it never contains their content.
- Giving or withdrawing the e-mail consent is written to the portal’s audit log (account id, time and the purpose, never content), which keeps entries for 12 months.
- Retention: until you change your choices, unsubscribe or delete your account. The portal keeps a list of public items with the time it first saw them for 90 days; it holds no personal data.
- Withdrawal: the unsubscribe link in every e-mail, your mail program’s unsubscribe button, or the alert settings page.
Questions about your data: use the feedback form when signed in, or the contact details on the About page.
